College Corps writes Easter letters to teens and children

With Easter around the corner, Concordia’s #CaliforniansForAll College Corps fellows hosted an Easter service event on Mon., March 18. College Corps invited students to write encouraging letters and Easter wishes to teens and children receiving treatment and education at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. The event took place on the Student Union Patio from 11 to 1 p.m.

Brittany Pereda graduated from Loyola Marymount with double major in Law and Business Marketing as a softball student athlete, and received her MBA from Concordia while being a graduate assistant coach for the softball team. Sciences shine at Academic Showcase poster session

Students donned their business attire and braved a chilly afternoon in the Breezeway on Thurs., Mar. 31 to present their posters for the 2022 President's Academic Showcase.

Students presented research and findings on a variety of topics; they worked solo or in teams of two, three or four. The poster session enabled students to deliver short recaps of their research followed by Q&As with their audiences. Many students attended the session along with faculty and staff members.

We all hear the saying that if you do what you love, you will never work a day in your life. For some of us, we don’t know what we love until we see it and feel it. For me, athletics was the one thing that I was passionate about. I studied different professional players, and learned the intricacies of sports that I didn’t even play because I was fascinated by the strategy.

Where do I begin after CUI?

I remember feeling so much pressure as graduation approached. Pressure to know exactly what I was going to do. Pressure to have a plan in place. Graduation. Graduate School. Private Practice. That is a common route for psychology majors to take, and I assumed that it was the route I should take.

While in graduate school, I learned more about who I was, my personality and how I process information. I realized that my natural inclination is to focus on the future and to design my way forward. This did not fit the traditional views I had on what therapy is.
